Paces High Green School for Conductive Education currently offer the following services for children aged 3 - 5 years.
The School  offers a service designed to meet the needs of children (three to five years of age) and their families by delivering a conductive service with the flexibility to suit most family needs.  These services can link in with either a mainstream or other specialist provision or can be dedicated, stand alone conductive service for that child.
We also offer a transitional service that helps prepare both the child and the receiving school. Sessional services are also available to provide on-going contact and input for children who have left, and their families, for as long as is required.

Curriculum

The Early Intervention Programme aims to help children to develop their movement skills, speech and communication skills, cognitive functions, intellectual skills, self-care, emotional and social skills.  The confidence and self-esteem the child gains as a result of this increased control will also have a positive effect on his/her ability to be included within a peer group.
Parents will be welcome to visit sessions by arrangement in order to ensure continuity of approach and to accelerate their child’s learning.
Children attending for their full-time early years education follow the pre-school curriculum based on the Foundation Stage Curriculum.  This has been skillfully integrated with the requirements of conductive education.

Aims

  • developing children’s range, co-ordination and control of movement.

  • developing children’s abilities in self-help skills such as dressing,  feeding and toileting.

  • developing the children’s social and daily living skills.

  • developing children’s expressive and receptive language skills.

  • providing opportunities to study a broad and balanced curriculum at appropriate levels of understanding.

  • working with parents to develop appropriate ways to encourage children’s learning within the home.

  • liaising with other professionals as appropriate.

Monitoring

Throughout the learning programme Conductive Education seeks to encourage children’s active learning, transforming their ability to overcome the problems they face in everyday life and creating the potential for independent thinking and activity.

A review of each child’s progress takes place quarterly, usually in the half term.  A written report, and if it is necessary, a modified education plan is provided.  The progress of each child is digitally recorded and stored.  Paces can work with parents, local education authorities, local schools and other professionals in preparing each child for transfer to the next stage of education.  Following this, Paces’ sessional services can ensure smooth transition and on-going provision for the child as required.

Families of children attending a fixed-term course are provided with a written report on the child’s progress as well as advice and support on how to build on the progress that has been made at Paces.
